Hull FC V KR
April 10th 2009

It was the Big game of the season, probably the most anticipated game within the Rugby League calendar, of course it was the Hull Derby!

Every year this event has attracted more people, more press coverage and with this the winners of the game get the bragging rights to the city - It's become a game that is about far more than the rugby on the pitch.

Well over 22,000 people were in attendance and Cobus were proud to be the Match Ball sponsors of the game.

The final score was 14-18 with Hull KR taking the rights this time around in a game that truly went down to the wire!

As well as being the Match Ball sponsors Cobus Also gave away 2 Executive Tickets to game on the KCFM 'All Request Lunch' the lucky winner of the tickets was Dean Sullivan who donated them to his wife and son, for further details click the ball below!

Expo June 2nd & 3rd 2009

Location: KC Stadium

Cobus Communications will be the main venue sponsor for the up coming Expo 2009
on June 2nd & 3rd.

We have attended the event for the previous 2 years and as we have expanded and developed we have taken the decision to become more involved with this highly prestigious event.

All visitors will be met on the day by Cobus Communications staff and presented with
a venue bag containing information from a number of associated companies along with some great offers from ourselves.

Visitors will be able to attend our demonstration stand located within the Kingston Suite where there will be the chance to win prizes by taking part in one of our great competitions.

During the event we will also be holding a lunch seminar to discuss how communications has moved forward over the past couple of years and how businesses in Hull can utilise new types of technology.

For those businesses who are looking to improve their communications we will also have a full demonstration suite located within Box 12.

It proves to be an exciting event and we are looking forward to being involved, for further details please visit the Hull & Hull Chamber of Commerce website by clicking on the logo.

Spotlight Awards 2009

We are pleased to announce our involvement with the Spotlight Awards 2009.

Working with Hull City Council and Viking FM the awards are to celebrate and acknowledge the success and achievements of children, young people and those who work with them across the city of Hull.

The event itself will consist of a prestigious evening held at the KC stadium on March 13th 2009.

Local celebrities including Nick Barmby (Hull City AFC), Mark Hill (International Hairdresser) and Michelle Dewberry (The Apprentice winner 2006) will all be in attendance along with some more special guests to be announced very soon.

We decided to sponsor the 'Friendly Business Award' as this is based on the very ethic we have within Cobus and we believe that this goes a long way when dealing with our customers and with people generally.

Details for the criteria for this category are:

"We would like to recognise a business or organisation within Hull that sets the highest possible standards when it comes to putting children and young people first. To achieve this we need your help – you may own, run, work or know of a business or organisation that really does go the extra mile when it comes to being children and young people friendly".

Wilberforce SIGN IT campaign 2008

Last Summer Cobus were heavily involved with the Wilberforce Sign IT campaign in conjunction with Hull City Council and KCFM.

The Wilberforce Petition has been in the public eye for a long period of time with the main aim of getting 100,000 signatures on a petition to abolish modern day slavery.

We were approached to supply the main prize for the competition where a Primary school could win something that helped promote learning and education. The school with the most signatures per pupil would win the prize and we decided to provide that winning school with a complete IT solution.

As well as the school with the most signatures we also provided a prize for the individual pupil who also managed to obtain the most signatures and this prize consisted of the latest Laptop.

The winning school was Bricknell Primary and the individual prize was shared between two brothers at Wold Road Primary; Both events were attended by the Lord Mayor 'Elaine Garland'.

Kids Yorkshire - Disability Walk Over The Humber Bridge

Vicky Jessop from Hull Business Training Centre got together a group of about twenty students for a sponsored walk across the Humber Bridge on a cool wet September Day to raise funds for KIDS.

This was a sponsored walk with a difference – to give the students some idea of what it is like to have to cope with a walk if you have a disability – some had blindfolds so they could not see, some had ear plugs so they could not hear and others had crutches or took turns to push or be pushed in a wheelchair.

We provided the T-Shirts to raise the awareness of the Campaign and our office manager himself took part in the walk!

The intrepid group set off from Hessle Square, buckets in hand to collect along the way and walked to the Bridge, over to Barton and back again. They all completed the walk and collected money in a bucket along the way!!! Sponsorship money is still being counted so watch this space!!!
